2020-04-18

Whether we like it or not, we are currently living through historic times. Thus, we need good historians to get a good understanding of the course of events and their possible consequences. Our guest in the pandemic podcast series is Anne Applebaum. We discussed the impact of the pandemic on the democratic world (Europe and the US alike), and the myth that authoritarian states are better equipped and managed to deal with COVID-19 and its consequences.

Anne Applebaum is a staff writer for The Atlantic and a Pulitzer-prize winning historian. She is also an SNF Agora senior fellow and associate professor of the practice at the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies, where she co-directs LSE Arena, a program on disinformation and 21st-century propaganda.
